Mustangs of Las Colinas

The Mustangs of Las Colinas is a world-renowned sculpture in Irving, Texas, just outside of Dallas. This breathtaking artwork was created by artist Robert Glen and unveiled in 1984, quickly becoming an iconic city symbol. The sculpture consists of nine bronze mustangs galloping through a granite stream, each standing about 15 feet tall and weighing around 6,000 pounds. The horses are cast in bronze using the lost wax process, while the granite stream is made from 40 tons of rough-cut granite.

The Mustangs of Las Colinas is located in Williams Square Plaza, which covers an area of 1.5 acres. This spacious plaza provides ample room for visitors to admire the sculpture from all angles and enjoy its stunning beauty. The water flowing through the granite stream creates a soothing sound and adds to the lifelike appearance of the sculpture. Watching the water cascade over the rocks and around the horses’ hooves, you can almost imagine yourself standing amid a wild herd of mustangs.

One of the most striking aspects of the Mustangs of Las Colinas is the attention to detail. Each horse is depicted with incredible realism, from the individual strands of their manes and tails to the muscles rippling beneath their skin. The mustangs’ hooves are shown in various positions, adding to the sculpture’s realism and creating a sense of movement and energy. Walking around the sculpture, you’ll notice that each horse is different, with unique poses and expressions that convey their wild spirit and untamed beauty.

The Mustangs of Las Colinas is a testament to the power of public art and its ability to inspire and captivate viewers. The sculpture has been featured in numerous publications and television programs, becoming a must-see attraction for Dallas-Fort Worth visitors.
