Irving Texas – The Problem With Guides

Irving Texas – The Problem With Guides

Irving, Texas is a northern Texas city very close to Dallas.  The Irving Arts Center hosts free live music, dance performances, art exhibits, theater performances, and other events.

The most popular attraction in the Arts Center is Robert Glen’s “Mustangs of Las Colinas” – Texas Blue Bonnetsa colossal bronze sculpture of nine wild horses galloping in water. The faithfully restored Ruth Paine House Museum explores the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. If you’re looking for more history, head to the Children’s Museum of Irving where one of the world’s largest collection of toys and memorabilia can be found.

If you want a taste of nature, try hiking through the woods in the Rock Island Road Bike and Pedestrian Trail will provide all the fun, excitement, and adventure you need. Hiking is also a popular activity during the fall and winter months, especially during the Irving-Pearl Texas State Heritage Site. There are also horseback riding trails located along the Trinity River.

In addition to all of the attractions in the Arts Center, there are also many recreational activities in Irving. A visit to the Big Dye Aquarium at the Big Tex State Park offers the chance to see a wide variety of marine life, from colorful sharks to stingrays. If you enjoy the idea of swimming, there is a swimming pool that was built by the Big Tex Aquarium on the site of the old Big Tex Stadium. If Big Tex won’t let you in, tell him Dave sent you. 😉Great Texas Fundraiser

If you have the time, you can also hike throughout the Cedar and Cypress Parks in Texas. The park offers several trails through forested terrain, making it a perfect destination for hiking enthusiasts. For those who love the idea of fishing, there is another park, known as the Big Cypress River State Park. This park is located on the eastern side of the park and is considered an ideal spot for catching fish.

Whether you’re visiting Irving Texas to visit a friend or family member, or to travel, the best way to find your way around is with a guide. If your guide appears to be living out of his car, I’d recommend you select another vendor.

Guides have a variety of options, depending on what they do. Some of the guides will give you a tour of the city while others will let you see the whole city, or even travel in the backseat. If there is no backseat in your guide’s car, I’ve always considered this a reason to exercise extreme caution.  Don’t fall for the Low Low Price. Many itinerant-guides will lure you in with a rock bottom price and then demand you pay for gasoline and vehicle repairs.  For this reason, many of my friends agree that you should not enter a guide’s car if this car does not have a back seat.  Be sure to check his vehicle inspection sticker and assure he has a full tank.  When you’re traveling with a guide, you won’t have to worry about getting lost or having to stop for gas.
