Sam Houston State University is a public university located in Huntsville, Texas. Founded in 1879, it is the third-oldest public university in Texas. As one of the first normal schools west of the Mississippi River, the school was established to provide a higher education for the area. It is $10,199 for out-of-state students. The university also offers many scholarships, including the Terry Foundation scholarship, which covers tuition, books, and on-campus housing. Students who receive this scholarship also get access to several personal development activities.
