Barton Warnock Visitor Center is a large, natural landscape park with a history dating back to the 1980s. Originally built by the Lajitas Foundation, the site was known as the Lajitas Museum Desert Gardens. Founded in 1982, the Park now boasts over 99 acres of land for visitors to explore.
The Barton Warnock Visitor Center is located near Big Bend Ranch State Park, which features miles of hiking and 
biking trails. The center also houses a two-acre botanical garden with an assortment of native desert plants. Visitors can take guided tours to learn about the park’s unique plant life.
The Barton Warnock Visitor Center is located a mile and a half east of Lajitas on FM 170. The facility serves as the eastern entrance to the state park. It offers maps, gifts, and potable water to visitors. The center is also home to a biologist, Barton Warnock, who helped identify many of the plant species native to the northern Chihuahuan Desert.

It also has a 2.5-acre desert garden and a park store selling T-shirts and other souvenirs. It’s a great place to pick up souvenirs while you’re visiting the park.
