Caprock Canyons State Park

The Caprock Canyons State Park and Trailway is one of the state parks of Texas. Located in Briscoe County, it is an expansive park that covers 15,314 acres. The park is a great place for hiking, mountain biking, and other outdoor recreation. It is open to the public for all ages and abilities.

There are several hiking trails to choose from, ranging from easy hikes to advanced hikes. Several of them are part of the Caprock Canyons Trailway, which connects the park’s many trails. Some of the trails are incredibly challenging and should be taken by experienced hikers or bikers.

The park is also home to one of the few remaining populations of the Southern Plains bison. This animal once roamed the area by the millions. Caprock Canyons State Park is located in a remote part of Texas. It is not close to any big towns, but it is only 80 miles from Amarillo. You can reach it via Quitaque. The park offers a small visitor center and camping is available for $12 to $22, depending on your comfort level.

Visitors should be aware of the high temperature in Caprock Canyons State Park. Summers can get as high as 110 degrees F, so be prepared to pack plenty of water and sunscreen. Winters in the canyons can be cold but still very beautiful. It is also possible to see bison in the winter.

The park has a number of hiking trails. Those who are interested in horseback riding should book a guide or a horse from the Quitaque Riding Stables. The park’s visitor center offers information on wildlife. Visitors can also purchase gifts at the visitor center. If you plan to spend the night in the Canyons, be sure to pack plenty of water.

If you want to go fishing, Lake Theo is a popular spot. There are several species of fish in the lake. The most common species include crappie, smallmouth bass, and channel catfish. Fishing in the winter is especially good. Fishing in the park is free, but you can only catch five fish per day.
