Daingerfield State Park

Daingerfield State Park is located in Morris County and has over 500 acres of land including an 80-acre man-made lake. The park offers all types of water activities including fishing and boating. However, motors must not exceed 5 miles per hour. The park also has an extensive swimming area.

Visitors can enjoy an 80-acre lake that is the park’s focal point. The park’s designers took advantage of the park’s terrain to maximize scenic vistas and recreation access. The park’s architecture also uses natural features such as a waterfall and a pond, which provide a tranquil atmosphere.

CCC units completed the construction of the park’s buildings during the Great Depression. They helped clear the land, build cabins, and excavate the land for the state park. The project was completed by 1935. The CCC Company 1801, an all-black unit, and Company 2891, an all-white unit, worked on the project. They were paid $30 monthly for their services, and most of their expenses were covered.

Visitors can also enjoy a hike along the Rustling Leaves Trail. The trail is 1.2 miles long and has some challenging sections. However, it is a perfect place to enjoy fall colors. Another trail in the park is the peninsula loop, which is a 2.4-mile hike.

Daingerfield State Park offers many recreational activities. Visitors can go geocaching, birding, or just study nature. The park also offers several cabins for groups. There are also boating opportunities available. The lake is stocked with fish, and no fishing license is required. In addition, there are piers and boat ramps at the park. The state park offers paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes for rent. Life jackets are also available.
