Martin Dies, Jr. State Park

The 705-acre Martin Dies Jr State Park is located near Jasper and Tyler counties in Texas. Located along U.S. Route 190, it’s a great place to explore the outdoors. The park offers visitors the opportunity to hike, bike, and fish. The park is open to the public year-round.

The park’s seven-mile hiking trails wind through the Big Thicket ecosystem, home to hundreds of species. You’ll spot Armadillos, White-tailed Deer, foxes, and even the occasional bobcat. Once you’ve finished hiking, you’ll have a great view of the natural beauty of this area.

The Angelina and Neches rivers meet at Martin Dies Jr State Park. Wildlife at this park includes white-tailed deer, armadillos, foxes, bobcats, and many species of reptiles and bats. It’s also home to bald eagles and pileated woodpeckers.
