Coppell Texas

In the early 1980’s, Coppell was a quiet, sleepy little town with a handful of enchanting Texans enjoying their fair cities features.  They were minding their own business when word reached the rest of the Coppell Texas Fundraisercountry regarding what they had and how fantastic their community was.  As you might imagine, as quickly as the outside world was alerted, Coppell’s population exceeded 40,000 residents and continues to enjoy steady growth.  Coppell has struck the perfect balance between proximity to Dallas while maintaining its small town identity.

The town of Coppell remained fairly small over initial decades, known principally as a farming community. When the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport was built in the 1980s, access to air transportation resulted in new folks moving to Coppell.  Coppell’s City Father’s saw the potential growth years before it occurred.  Rather than follow the disastrous route of overbuilding, they worked out a plan for the future that included retaining Coppell’s unique character while making plenty of room for business and prosperity.  Their vision provided Coppell with a third of the city set aside for residential development.  They were not oblivious to the need for businesses and the tax revenue they provided.  Another third was set aside for commercial development.  As a Sam Houston - God Bless Texasresult of their insight, the city is experiencing a flood of corporate relocations.  The final third of Coppell assured the incredible quality of life of the city persisted to their posterity.  Coppell is renowned for parks, jogging trails and playgrounds.

The City Government of Coppell works hard to implement a Bold Vision and Big Impact Program.  From their site we learn:

The continuation of the CRDC 1/2-cent sales tax will assist the community to remain a “community of choice” for many years to come. The continued development and even redevelopment of many of our quality of life facilities and visual branding elements will further differentiate Coppell as a first class community that offers residents, businesses, and visitors a lifestyle second to none. All of this is made possible by the successful economic development efforts of the City of Coppell. Years in the making, the strong commercial, industrial sales tax base found primarily in the business-to-business entities located on the west side of the community now produce sales tax revenue that will fund the construction of the programs currently planned and those that will be envisioned in the future.

“BOLD Vision, BIG Impact” is an attempt to bring a more tangible vision of the projects funded by the continuation of the CRDC 1/2-cent sales tax, and keep the community up to date on their respective status as they progress.

This is what can happen when a city enjoys incredible leadership.
