New Providence, New Jersey, and Flower Mound, Texas, have recently become sister cities. The residents of Flower Mound, Texas, wanted to do something special to honor the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. So they began researching the attacks and learned of the Centennial Park in New Providence. They decided this would be a perfect location for a 9/11 memorial. Today, the two cities share a relationship of friendship and brotherhood.

There are many places to visit in Flower Mound. The city is located near two large lakes – Lake Lewisville on the southern border and Grapevine Lake to the north. Flower Mound also contains one of the largest natural hardwood forests in the U.S. This area is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area and is composed of Denton County, Texas, which spans 953 square miles of mostly rolling hills and has a population of 85906.

The city is located in Denton County and is a suburb of Fort Worth and Dallas. It is approximately twenty miles northwest of downtown Dallas. According to the United States Census Bureau, Flower Mound is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Residents enjoy easy access to major highways and other locations. Flower Mound has a growing population of over 64,600. It is also home to a large Wichita Indian sacred ceremonial mound.
